Supporting Southwest Florida Children with Cancer and blood disorders
Established in 1983 as a independent non-profit 501c3 charity, Candlelighters has served the special needs of children diagnosed with cancer and blood related disease. Part of our role is to support, educate and assist the family throughout the child's illness.
Candlelighters provides at no cost opportunities for the family through networking, monthly support group meetings and numerous family activities throughout the year. Family activities and teen programs are designed to improve a child�s self esteem and promote family continuity.
We believe through education of the disease and its effects, parents will be better prepared to make intelligent choices regarding their child�s treatment.
Candlelighters must raise its own funds to fulfill our mission. There are no funds from federal, state, or local government nor do we receive financial support from any of the national health organizations. We rely on the generosity of those we touch with our message.

What is your primary product or service?
Providing support to Southwest Florida children with cancer and blood disorders and their family members.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
When my 2 1/2 year old daughter was diagnosed with cancer and I discovered there were no services available throughout Southwest Florida to help children and their families deal with the cancer and all of its effects.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
Candlelighters serves all children regardless of which hospital, doctor or medical clinic they receive their cancer treatment. The services we offer have a direct impact on the family during a period of their lives when medical bills, educating themselves about the disease and learning how to cope and survive the disease can take a major toll on their family.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We have only one location which provides services to a five-county area in Southwest Florida. There are no funds available to expand to other locations.

There are no fees for our registered family members.

We are a non-profit charity who is governed by a board of directors and the day-to-day duties are the responsibility of the Executive Director.
What are your hours of operation?
Monday - Friday 10 am - 4 pm
