Our programs, resources, and initiatives are made possible through corporate, individual, and educational partnerships.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
The Foundation for Lee County Public Schools, Inc. was established in 1986 by a diverse group of local business and community leaders to enhance the quality of public education in Lee County by increasing community support and involvement in Lee County public schools. With philanthropic and community partnerships, we champion educational excellence for our students and teachers so they can prosper in an ever-changing global society and economy.
The purpose of every initiative of the Foundation is to create and enhance opportunities for our public school students and teachers.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
The Foundation has been serving Lee County public school students and educators for twenty-nine years. We have a strong relationship with the School District of Lee County as they support our efforts to enhance and enrich the quality of public education in Lee County. Our financial stability has allowed us to donate more than $34 million to further public education in Lee County.
We have been recognized as one of the top 20 education foundations in the nation by Dewey & Associates, Inc. Our Take Stock in Children program has received the Gold Level Status for two years in a row. We are rated as a 4-star charity by Charity Navigator and received the GuideStar Exchange Gold Seal rating for our financial efficiency, sustainability, and commitment to transparency.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
The Foundation office is located in the historic Gwynne Institute building in Downtown Ft. Myers which housed the first high school in Ft. Myers.

What type of payments do you accept?
We accept cash, check and credit card donations, as well as donations of new and gently used school and office supplies.

The Foundation serves Lee County public school students and educators.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
The Foundation for Lee County Public Schools is led by the Board of Directors who set goals and provide support to the President & CEO and staff. Board members are assigned to committees and act as liaisons to the programs administered by the Foundation. The staff report to the President & CEO who is responsible for maintaining the quality of the programs and expanding the Foundation to meet the needs of students and teachers. Staff members are assigned to specific programs and are responsible for the effectiveness and growth of each program. Many programs have volunteers who serve under the Program Director in a variety of roles.
