Interview Q&A
How long have you been in business?
131 years for the American Red Cross national organization and 94 years locally (Lee & Collier County Chapters).
What is your primary product or service?
The American Red Cross is a humanitarian organization led by volunteers (500,000+ nationally and 800+ from Collier and Lee Counties, on call 24/7/365) that provide relief to victims and help prevent, prepare for and resond to emergencies. The Red Cross is Congressionally Chartered (but not government funded) and guided by the seven fundamenal principles of the International Red Cross movement (Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Unity, Universality, Voluntary Service).
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
It is not unusual for the Red Cross to respond to simultaneous operations. The Red Cross works year round to be ready to respond effectively to disasters of any size – that’s why it’s so critical for us to have the resources and support to maintain our response levels locally and nationally. The American Red Cross does not receive support from the government nor Red Cross National Headquarters for day-to-day operations. Instead, each Chapter is required to support itself and perform its humanitarian mission through fund raising events, private donations and smart fiscal management (on average, 91 cents of every dollar raised goes to our programs and services).
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
Two - Collier & Lee County Chapters.
What type of payments do you accept?
Checks, stock gifts, most major credit cards and planned giving options.
Which areas do you service?
Disaster Response, Service to Armed Forces, Health & Safety Education, International Aid & Response.
What are your hours of operation?
8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday - Friday
What is the best compliment anyone can give you?
The Red Cross was there when we needed them.
